Compatibility FAQ

Are valves interchangeable between brands?

Yes � most 2-inch butterfly and ball valves use the same S60x6 coarse thread and are cross-compatible between Schutz, Mauser, Greif, and Werit totes manufactured after 2000.

Which cap size do I need?

The vast majority of IBC totes use a 150mm (approximately 6-inch) top cap with a DN150 thread. Measure before ordering if you are unsure. We also stock 8-inch caps for wider-opening totes.

Will liners fit any tote?

Our standard liners are sized for 275-gallon and 330-gallon totes. Specify your capacity when ordering to ensure a proper fit. Form-fit liners are more size-sensitive than standard bag liners.

Do heating blankets fit all brands?

Full-wrap blankets are adjustable and fit most standard 275-gallon totes regardless of brand. For 330-gallon or non-standard dimensions, ask for a custom size or use our universal insulation jacket.

What thread is on the top cap?

Standard IBC totes use a S150x6 or DIN 150 coarse thread. Our adapters include thread specs in their product listing. When in doubt, send us a photo and we will identify it for you.

Can I use a drum mixer on an IBC?

Yes � with our drum mixer adapter bracket. It converts the IBC opening to accept standard drum mixer shafts. This saves you from buying a dedicated IBC mixer if you already have drum mixing equipment.

Do I need a spill pallet?

EPA regulations (40 CFR 264.175) require secondary containment for containers storing hazardous materials. Even for non-hazardous liquids, spill pallets are strongly recommended to prevent floor contamination and slip hazards.

Which gasket material should I choose?

EPDM is the default for water, mild chemicals, and food-grade applications. PTFE handles aggressive solvents and acids. Viton is best for fuels, oils, and aromatic compounds. Contact us if you are unsure about chemical compatibility.

How do I know when to replace a gasket?

Replace gaskets when you see visible cracking, permanent compression set (the gasket does not spring back), swelling from chemical exposure, or any dripping from the valve or cap during normal use.
